The connection of the project activities to the WFD:WFD demands the elaboration of the Basin River Management
Plans for the catchment areas. The proposed project
helps interconnect the existing governmental structures and advise which new
ones are needed.
WFD encourages 'active involvement' of all 'the interested parties' in the context of elaboration, review, implementation of the RBMP, highlighting to what extent transparency, free access to information, public participation and accountability are promoted in water resources management. The stakeholders' participation is an important aspect of the EU WFD, as well (Article 14).
