Inception Conference (IC)

The Inception Conference is meant to bring together decision-makers, governmental bodies’ representatives, experts, and environmental NGOs, from both countries so as to build a common vision, and share knowledge and information about topic related issues. The IC will provide the participants the occasion to actually meet and discuss directly with their counterparts from the neighboring country.

The process of disseminating the information regarding the chapters already fulfilled together with the existing information on the chapters in working of the “Prut Basin Management Plan” will be started. Procedures and deadlines for input and comments will be established. Special attention will be paid to the management of the expectations of the participants.

 

By enabling the exchange of the latest knowledge and information about the Prut RMP Draft, the current programmes and projects, we hope to encourage multi-stakeholders’ involvement in both countries.

The conference will highlight the following issues:

  • The Water Framework Directive - Implementation and Public Participation
  • The Prut River Basin Management Plan Draft and Public Participation
  • Transboundary Cooperation in preparing the Prut River Basin Management Plan: present day infrastructure
    • Water quality in the Prut River Basin, as reported by different institutions responsible for: Water, Agriculture, Health, and Education
      • Nutrients pollution sources in Prut Basin and their impact on human health
    • EU Nitrates Directive-Implementation stages and requirements
    • Environmentally-friendly approaches for nutrients’ reduction within the aquatic ecosystems (Good Agricultural Practices, composting, bio-gas stations, reed-bed water treatment plant, etc)

 

·         Nutrients’ Loads and the Biodiversity in the Prut RB:

·         Current programmes and projects, success and failure stories/reports!

·         Wetlands restoration projects in the Prut River Basin run by RIZA, WWF,

·         Protected areas in Prut River Basin and their legal status!

In addition to the previous mentioned aspects the inception conference will be very important for the project dissemination, as a media event. Thus press-briefings and press releases, written, audio and visual presentations will be prepared.
